The Benefits Of Dental Bonding

Composite bonding is not just an effective cosmetic procedure, but it is also great for preventing additional complications such as dead nerves or abscesses.

Having this treatment will also prevent further damage or decay to your teeth. If we can help save your tooth, we’ll do everything in our power to do so. The earlier we get an opportunity to do this, the better.

Composite bonding is a great cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings. These will look great, especially on your front teeth. Not only will we repair chips that may have formed in your teeth, but we’ll give you a whiter smile.

It’s also useful for hiding a multitude of other sins, such as gaps between teeth. By building up the teeth and closing gaps, you could avoid the need for orthodontic treatment.

We recognise that paying for your dental work can be tough. Often, when it comes to restorative treatment for dealing with damaged teeth, the sudden expense can come out of the blue. The great news about composite bonding is that it’s one of the most cost-effective cosmetic treatments available.

More about
our process

Whether you are looking to improve the shape and size of your teeth, fill the gaps in between your teeth or repair chipped teeth, composite bonding or veneers could be for you.

Both treatments achieve the same objective and transform your smile and smile with confidence.

Composite bonding A white filling material is added onto the tooth’s surface to change the shape and size of the tooth or fill gaps between the teeth. This treatment is ideal following teeth whitening so that the dentist can match the white filling material to the new, whiter shade of natural tooth. Composite bonding can be done in one visit without any drilling or injections.

Porcelain Veneers are ideal for uneven or damaged teeth. These thin porcelain sheets are bonded to the surface of your tooth to transform the shape and size of the tooth. Veneers take a few appointments to fit, but they’ll last for many years.

The first step towards your dream smile is a consultation with one of our highly experienced expert cosmetic dentists. The dentist will give you a full dental examination & then discuss which cosmetic treatment is the best option to improve your smile and create a bespoke treatment plan for you.

You’ve probably got tonnes of questions.
But before you get in touch, we’ve
answered the most common ones.

What’s the difference between composite bonding and composite veneers?

Composite bonding and composite veneers are different names used to refer to the same treatment.

This treatment works by adding composite resin (aesthetic dental material) onto the tooth surface to improve the size, shape & colour of the tooth.

Does composite bonding involve “drilling teeth down” ?

One of the best features of composite bonding is that there is no need to remove any tooth structure and so there is no damage to the underlying tooth.

There is also no need to use any injections making this treatment pain free.

How long does composite bonding last?

On average composite bonding lasts between 3-8 years depending on how well the teeth are looked after.

Following your treatment, we recommend seeing our hygienist regularly to ensure your gums stay healthy and coming back for check-ups with the dentist every 6 months to make sure your smile stays in good shape

What’s the difference between composite bonding and porcelain veneers?

Composite bonding is carried out completely by the cosmetic dentist in surgery where they will artistically carve the aesthetic composite resin material over the tooth surface in order to achieve the desired shape and size.

This is all done in one appointment and does not require the removal of any tooth structure.

Porcelain Veneers on the other hand are made in a dental lab by an experienced lab technician who uses porcelain to create contact-lense thin pieces of ceramic that are glued on to the tooth surface by the cosmetic dentist.

Due to the “extra work” needed to create porcelain veneers treatment takes two appointments to complete.

On average porcelain veneers last around 10 years whereas composite veneers last between 3-8 years on average.

Due to the lab process required to manufacture porcelain veneers they start from £750 each whereas composite veneers are £250 per tooth.

If my teeth are crooked can I still get composite bonding/veneers?

This is a common question and all depends on the level of crowing of your teeth.

If the crowding is very minor then the dentist may be able to “camouflage” the teeth with composite bonding/veneers without the need for teeth straightening prior.

This will all become clear at your consultation where the dentist will tell you the best treatment plan for you based on your treatment goals and expectations.

Do I need to whiten my teeth before getting composite bonding/veneers?

This all depends on your treatment expectations and how white and bright you want your smile.

Typically, most our clients do whiten their teeth as part of their smile makeover as it does make the end result more impressive and aesthetic.

If you want to make your smile brighter then you most likely will need to whiten beforehand.

It is entirely up to you however – if you want a subtle, natural looking smile then it may be best to skip the whitening and go straight for the composite bonding/veneers to match the current colour of your teeth.

What payment options are available to make my treatment plan affordable?

We understand that cosmetic treatments can be an expensive investment and so we are able to offer interest free finance options in order to make any treatment affordable.

Just ask one of our client care team following your consultation and we can sit down and we can talk you through all the payment options.

Is dental bonding right for me?

Cosmetic bonding is suitable for anyone that has a chipped or damaged tooth. If you’re unhappy with the size or shape of your teeth, the treatment can also help.

The procedure is very simple. We apply a tooth-coloured resin material to the affected area, using a special formula that will alter the size, shape, and colour.

As long as you practice good oral hygiene, they will last for several years.

Can cosmetic bonding be used alongside teeth whitening treatments?

Yes. If you have discoloured teeth, make sure you talk to your dentist about having both procedures. We offer at-home whitening that is based on a gentle and safe system.

If you decide at a later date that you want your teeth whitening, you will have to keep in mind that the material used in composite bonding is designed to be stain-resistant so that it will change colour at a different rate to your regular tooth enamel, so whitening to the same shade can be a challenge.

How long does composite bonding take?

Composite bonding takes as little as half an hour to an hour to complete. The process is straightforward and pain-free, so no anaesthetic is required.

The procedure will be carried out in our state-of-the-art surgery in Leeds, where you’ll be made to feel completely at ease throughout.

Does cosmetic dentistry hurt?

Composite bonding is a straightforward procedure that doesn’t require any anaesthetic. There is no pain associated with treatment; however, if you have a fear of the dentist’s chair, we also offer sedation dentistry which will allow you to feel completely at ease.

Just ask your dentist about IV sedation for your cosmetic bonding procedure – they’ll be happy to oblige!
