The term ‘temporary tooth implant’ refers to the short-term crown or bridge that is used while your jaw heals after dental implant surgery. Once this recovery period comes to an end (usually 3 – 4 months later), your permanent tooth is fitted.

We are working hard during this time to meticulously craft your crown or bridge to perfection. The patient returns to the clinic to have their final tooth implant fitted. Once this has been carried out, it marks the end of your treatment – you are now able to enjoy your brand-new smile for up to 20 years.
What is a dental implant temporary tooth made out of?
The temporary tooth is made from acrylic. Your final tooth is crafted from ultra aesthetic monolithic zirconia. For patients having a dental bridge, you will also receive ultra aesthetic monolithic zirconia. Thanks to its white, tooth-like colour, zirconia blends seamlessly into your smile.
Dental implant aftercare tips
To protect your temporary tooth implant and aid healing, there are a few aftercare tips to follow for the first four months post-surgery:
- Manage discomfort with your usual over-the-counter pain medication.
- Reduce swelling by applying ice packs or frozen peas to the face.
- Follow a liquid diet for 48 hours, before progressing to soft, dairy-free foods for at least two weeks.
- Do not smoke.
- Avoid straws – they may disrupt the blood clot.
- Maintain great oral hygiene to protect against peri-implantitis and gum disease.
