What are implant bridges for teeth?

A long-term solution to your ongoing pain and embarrassment

A dental implant bridge replaces multiple adjacent teeth. Instead of using an individual implant for every tooth being replaced, this type of prosthetic can attach as many as 10 teeth with just four dental implants. This reduces the amount of surgery needed, improves recovery time and lowers your overall spending.

Teeth implants are a type of dental prosthetic that replace teeth. Created with grade 5 titanium, an implant is inserted through your gum into your jaw. It then acts as a fixed anchor for an abutment, which protrudes through and out of your gum, before a zirconia bridge is fitted on top. This bridge is filled with your new perfect teeth.

Why grade 5 titanium implants?

This material is the gold standard in implantology. It is medical grade, corrosion resistant and designed to prevent rejection, giving your implants a long lifespan.

Why zirconia bridges?

Zirconia is a ceramic-coated metal known to produce comfortable dental prosthetics that look, feel and perform just like natural teeth.

Teeth implants are often a dentist's last resort. If your failing and missing teeth cannot be fixed with other treatments and are causing you intense discomfort, the procedure offers a long-term solution. There are many reasons to consider getting teeth implants:

  • These artificial replacements look, feel and perform just like your natural teeth
  • Your ability to bite and chew without pain is restored
  • Dental implants give you a beautiful straight white smile - and an immeasurable confidence boost
  • You are able to speak clearly
  • Dental implants may also help to prevent premature ageing caused by missing teeth
  • With care, your beautiful new smile can last up to 20 years

Don't know where to start on your smile journey? These are the different types of teeth implants to consider:

  • Single implant bridge: Can hold two adjacent teeth in place
  • Multiple implants bridge: Contains three or more teeth
  • All-on-4 / Full arch implant bridges: Uses 4-8 implants to hold a full arch of up to 10 teeth
  • Full mouth implant bridges: Uses two arches to replace both upper and lower teeth

Teeth implants can also be differentiated by the materials being used.

  • Temporary bridges: Use acrylic bridges and composite gum work
  • Standard implants: Use monolithic zirconia bridges
  • Premium implants: Use diamond cut zirconia bridges with individual crowns

Dental consultation and oral health check

This in-person visit plays an essential role in your smile journey. Your dentist performs an oral health check to confirm you are eligible for treatment and identify any issues that would prevent your procedure from being successful. This examination includes 3D scans and photographs.

Then, your treatment plan is created, giving you an idea of your overall timeframe and finance. If additional work is required to tackle issues such as gum disease, this will need to be sorted prior to your teeth implant procedure starting.

Teeth in a Day™ surgery

The main surgery is carried out in just one appointment, typically in seven hours or less (breaks included). You will first be sedated, to help you feel pain free and at ease during the procedure. Any teeth needing to be removed will be taken out, your gums prepared and implants inserted into your jaw. A temporary dental implant bridge will then be fit, giving you new teeth in a day, before being sent home to heal.

Trial fitting

Revisiting your YDS dentist, a wax mock-up of your new bridge will be fit and more scans and photographs taken. This ensures your final bridge will fit seamlessly onto your implants, and your bridge looks natural in your mouth.

Final fitting

The final step in your journey is simple. Return to Yorkshire Dental Suite Leeds to have your temporary teeth implants removed, and your final teeth implants fitted. You will then leave the clinic with a confident, long-lasting smile.

Knowing how to take care of your new teeth implants is essential in order to enjoy their full treatment lifespan.

Daily care

  1. Brush your teeth gently yet thoroughly with a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste
  2. Brush the gumline to remove any bacteria
  3. Use interdental brushes or floss to remove food particles from between the teeth
  4. Rinse with a high-quality mouthwash

Further advice

  1. Stick to a liquids only diet for 48 hours after your procedure. Avoid particularly hot or cold food and drinks during this time to minimise discomfort, and avoid sucking on straws - this can disrupt the healing process
  2. Then, for the following two weeks, stick to a nutritious, soft foods diet that is free from alcohol and dairy. Dairy products carry a risk of infection
  3. Dental implants cannot be whitened. Try to avoid anything that is known to stain teeth, like tomato-based sauces, coffee, red wine and berries
  4. Treat discomfort with your typical over-the-counter pain medication
  5. Stop smoking or vaping. These habits contribute to multiple oral health issues, as well as dental implant failure and discolouration
  6. While they are strong, dental implants are not indestructible - try not to bite down on very hard objects or foods

Teeth implants FAQs

Still have questions about teeth implants?

The experts at Yorkshire Dental Suite Leeds answer the questions we frequently receive about teeth implants. If your query isn't addressed below, do not hesitate to contact us.

First, check with your local NHS dentist. While eligibility is rare, they may be able to provide cheap teeth implants. This would cost you £332.10. Your teeth and gums need to be in good condition before treatment can proceed - if you have issues like gum disease or bone loss, this will have to be treated first, adding to your overall costs.

Teeth implants in Turkey sound like a great idea. You get a budget smile and a holiday at the same time. However, when you take into consideration the risks and potential complications, they are nowhere near as cheap as you expect.

Wrong and unnecessary treatments

A BBC documentary titled 'Turkey Teeth: Bargain Smiles Or Big Mistake?' canvassed hundreds of Turkey teeth providers and found that over half of these clinics recommended treatments that were unnecessary or were a more destructive treatment than necessary.

For example, one patient was sold veneers but had a full set of crowns instead. She was promised they would last a lifetime when the lifespan of crowns is typically around 15 years. This locks Turkey teeth patients into needing updates or alternative treatments sooner than normal, making the cheap-up front cost not representative of the lifetime cost incurred to maintain your teeth.

A week is not long enough for your gums to heal

Turkey teeth implants are usually completed in a week or two. This is problematic for a number of reasons as most UK implant treatments take between three and four months to complete. This is because it takes several months for your gums to heal and, during this time, your implants and gum shape can move. While this is happening, UK dentists take the time to craft your crowns or bridges so that they fit perfectly, look natural and are durable. Can the same be said for Turkey teeth?

Low-quality materials

Teeth implants should be created from grade 5 titanium. This prevents the body from rejecting the implant and ensures no corrosion, improving the lifespan of the implant. Turkey Teeth often use grade 1 or 2 titanium or worse, do not disclose the type of materials used. This causes issues within a few years, resulting in the need for replacement implants well ahead of time.

Quality control

Cosmetic dental clinics in Turkey do not have the same high standards demanded from UK dentists. UK dentists, nurses and orthodontists are governed by the General Dental Council (GDC), and practices are monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). These governing bodies ensure standards of patient care and dental procedures.

No support from UK dentists

If you have teeth implants in Turkey, most UK dentists will not be able to support you should you have future dental issues. This is because to treat you, the dentist would need to accept liability for an overseas dentist’s work. Yorkshire Dental Suite can in some circumstances help - please contact us if you are experiencing issues with your Turkey teeth.

This treatment, which is commonly referred to as snap-on dentures, uses dental implants to secure a removable acrylic denture in place. It is a popular alternative for patients who do not fit the criteria for full dental implants.

If well cared for, teeth implants can last 30+ years. Please follow the aftercare instructions set out by your dentist to enjoy the full lifespan of this treatment. To keep your implants looking pristine, attend regular appointments with a dental hygienist.

Dental implants for front teeth replace your upper or lower teeth if they become damaged or have been taken out for medical reasons. From a single tooth to zirconia bridges containing two or more teeth, this is an effective way to create a beautiful new smile.

The teeth implant procedure is pain-free with dental sedation. While you recover from the surgery, you may experience some discomfort, alongside swelling and bruising. Treat this with your usual over-the-counter pain medication. However, if this discomfort persists, please contact your local Yorkshire Dental Suite dentist.

Some dentists will fit gold implants, but the experts at Yorkshire Dental Suite Leeds recommend against this. Why? When a metal tooth is placed next to a natural tooth, it will cause excessive wear and tear. This subsequently causes future complications and expenses.
