FAQS
Nanofill Composite Bonding® FAQs
We’ve done our best to answer all your questions, but if we haven’t, please get in touch. We’d love to help.
One of the best features of composite bonding is that there is no need to remove any tooth structure and so there is no damage to the underlying tooth.
There is also no need to use any injections making this treatment pain free.
On average, composite bonding lasts between 5-8 years depending on how well the teeth are looked after.
Following your treatment, we recommend seeing our hygienist regularly to ensure your gums stay healthy and coming back for check-ups with the dentist every 6 months to make sure your smile stays in good shape.
This is a common question and all depends on the level of crowing of your teeth.
If the crowding is very minor then the dentist may be able to “camouflage” the teeth with composite bonding/veneers without the need for prior teeth straightening.
This will all become clear at your consultation where the dentist will tell you the best treatment plan for you based on your treatment goals and expectations.
This all depends on your treatment expectations and how white and bright you want your smile.
Typically, most of our clients whiten their teeth as part of their smile makeover as it does make the end result more impressive and aesthetically pleasing.
If you want to make your smile brighter then it’s most likely that you will need to whiten beforehand.
It is entirely up to you, however – if you want a subtle, natural looking smile then it may be best to skip the teeth whitening and go straight for the composite bonding/veneers to match the current colour of your teeth.
We understand that cosmetic treatments can be an expensive investment and so we are able to offer interest free finance options in order to make any treatment affordable.
Just ask one of our client care team following your consultation and we can sit down and talk you through all the payment options.
Composite bonding is one of the cheapest ways to achieve a straight white smile. This makes it a great choice for patients on a budget.
Bonding is a painless treatment making if a good choice for people who are anxious about visiting a dentist
Bonding is a fast way to cosmetically fix discoloured, broken, chipped and misaligned teeth. This makes it a good alternative to fixed orthodontic braces.
Composite bonding cannot be whitened. The resin is already coloured and is not affected by peroxide and other whitening products. If your bonding becomes discoloured visit your dentist to have it touched up.
Composite bonding takes as little as half-an-hour to an hour to complete. The process is straightforward and pain-free, so no anaesthetic is required.
The procedure will be carried out in our state-of-the-art surgery, where you’ll be made to feel completely at ease throughout.
Having composite bonding does not hurt and is a painless procedure. You will not require sedation or injections and there is no drilling.
You may temporarily experience some sensitivity immediately following your treatment but this will go after a few days.
Composite bonding uses dental grade resin to model a new face to your teeth. Your dentist will sculpt a new straight white smile for you, cosmetically fixing chips, cracks, crowding and gapped teeth. Composite bonding is a painless treatment, it does not permanently damage your teeth unlike veneers and can be completed in a few hours. This makes it a cheaper alternative to veneers however bonding isn’t as strong as veneers so biting on hard foods can cause it to chip or crack. The good news is that bonding is cheap and easy to fix.
The benefits of composite bonding are:
- Composite bonding is not available on the NHS and is only available via private dentists
- The treatment is fully reversable
- Its the cheapest way to cosmetically fix chipped, cracked, worn, discoloured, crowded or gapped teeth
- It doesn’t permanently damage the tooth unlike veneers
- Treatments include teeth whitening so your new teeth will look amazing and evenly matched
- Treatments are painless
- Treatments are quick and can be completed in a few hours
- Your new smile will be created specifically for you, matching your dental profile
- Bonding is easy to fix
The composite bonding process is fast and painless:
- Your teeth are whitened and resin colour matched to ensure a uniform colour
- Your teeth are prepared to provide an even contact for resin. This can include some contouring if desired
- Your teeth are washed and dried allowing a clean contact for resin
- Your dentist will sculpt your smile cosmetically correcting chips, cracks, crowding and gaps
- The resin is cured to make it hard
- Your dentist will fine tune the sculpt to give you a straight white smile
- The resin is cured again to finish the procedure
We have streamlined the process of getting composite bonding:
- You will be called to discuss your requirements and organise a booking at the dentist.
- Visit your dentist to discuss the treatment. The dentist will review your teeth to see if you’re eligible for the treatment and if any additional works are required to make the treatment successful e.g. treating cavities or gum disease etc.
- You will be booked in for your second appointment to have the treatment.
Maintaining composite bonding is similar to looking after your natural teeth.
- Brush twice a day using a fluoride toothpaste and soft bristled brush. Please note, whitening toothpaste does not have any effect on bonded teeth.
- Use floss or an interdental brush to clean between teeth down to the gum line to remove plaque.
- Drink water during and after meals to maintain your PH levels.
- Avoid foods and drinks that stain teeth. These include tomato based sauces, red wine and coffee.
- Stop smoking or vaping as this discolours your teeth.
- Visit a dental hygienist twice a year.
Composite bonding is affordable because it is a simple treatment requiring no anaesthesia, its fast and relies on the artistry of your dentist to be effective. This makes composite bonding a cheap way to achieve straight white teeth in a few hours.
Finance is available for composite bonding treatments. We offer 0% APR on finance under 2 years and 9.9% for payment terms up to 5 years. You can also pay for your treatment using our dental plan.
Composite bonding is a suitable treatment for adults who have healthy teeth and gums. It is not available on the NHS and is only available from private dental clinics. Bonding is a fast way to cosmetically fix discoloured, broken, chipped and misaligned teeth.
You cannot get composite bonding if you have cavities, gum disease or if you smoke.
The risks of composite bonding are minimal because the treatment is fully reversable.
You may experience some short-term sensitivity when eating cold foods like ice cream or drinking hot beverages like tea or coffee. This will go after a few days.
The resin can become stained if you eat foods that can cause stains like tomato based sauces, drink coffee or red wine. Bonded teeth cannot be whitened. Instead you may need your bonding touched up by the dentist to maintain its whiteness.
The resin used is not as strong as your natural teeth or veneers and can chip and crack. This can be easily repaired by your dentist.
You may experience a rare allergic reaction. If you experience swelling, itching or rashes after your treatment please contact your dentist.
If your gums become sore or sensitive after your treatment rinse with salt water. If irritation continues consult your dentist.
Composite bonding does not work with Invisalign and other clear aligner treatments. The resin is cured to make a hardwearing and durable surface but can not be adjusted using aligners or retainers.
Composite bonding can chip and crack if you bite into something hard. Because bonding is made from resin and is fully reversable, chips and cracks can be repaired by your dentist.
