What are full arch dental implants?

Dental implants are a titanium screwlike post that replaces a tooth root. The implant fuses with the jawbone to secure and abutment and bridge of teeth. Typical full mouth dental implant procedures use a minimum of 4 implants on each jaw to secure a separate upper and lower bridge of teeth. Each bridge is custom made in our in-house dental laboratory and hand painted to look natural.

Book a consultation and check your eligibility with over £200 worth of scans includes.

Are full mouth dental implants painful

To make your experience pain free discuss pain management with a dentist during your consultation. From simple local anaesthetic to IV sedation, there are options that keep even the most nervous of patients calm, relaxed and pain-free throughout.

Most patients experience the most pain after the treatment on the second day. This is when swelling and bruising peaks. Dentists recommend taking your choice of over the counter pain medication to treat any symptoms. If pain persists then please contact your dentist.

Are full mouth dental implants for seniors?

Dental implants are available for ages 18 to 80+ and are ideal for seniors.

You just need healthy gums and bone before you can be considered. Any issues discovered during the consultation can be treated in advance. Bone loss can be remedied with a bone graft, sinus lift or by using pterygoid or zygomatic implants that bypass the affected area. This can increase costs and treatment timescales.

If you have more healthy teeth than are damaged or missing your dentist may recommend an alternative treatment such as a bridge.

Can I get full mouth dental implants in one day?

Yes. Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea specialise in same-day full mouth dental implants. We call this procedure teeth in a day. Surgery includes the removal of your teeth, insertion of a minimum of 8 implants across 2 jaws, and 2 temporary acrylic bridges which are worn while throughout recovery.

It takes 3-4 months for implants to fully fuse to the bone. During this time implants can move. This is why we do not fit final bridges on day one.

What is the full mouth dental implants timeline?

Getting full mouth dental implants (with temporary bridges) at a private dentist is just a matter of availability and can be done in a few days subject to your gums and bone being healthy. The full process can take 3-4 months or longer if you have more remedial works needed.

  1. Consultation (£65): Meet with your dentist for a thorough oral examination, review of your medical history and over £200+ worth of CBCT scans, x-rays and digital impaling. We will identify any underlying issues such as gum disease or bone loss that could affect treatment success.
  2. Optional remedial work: From hygiene appointments and courses of antibiotics to gum or bone grafts, any underlying issues are treated to make your mouth fit for implantation.
  3. Stop smoking or vaping: Contact your GP to discuss patches and other treatments to help you quit.
  4. Surgery Day: Sedation makes the procedure painless. Teeth are removed and implants attached to the jawbone. For a more detailed breakdown of the procedure day please read the section below.
  5. Recovery (3-4 months): Gums heal and implants fuse to the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. You will attend the clinic multiple times to check progress, repeat scans and trial fit new temporary bridges.
  6. LTP (Long Term prosthetic): Your final bridge is ready, replacing your temporary bridges giving you a new long lasting smile.

The full mouth dental implants procedure step by step

As specialists in full mouth dental implants, the Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea are well practiced at delivering an efficient treatment day that puts your needs, care and comfort at the centre of everything we do. A typical procedure follows the following steps:

  1. A warm welcome: our reception team will greet you with a smile and check your booking.
  2. Meeting the team: Your treatment coordinator and dentist will take you to the treatment room.
  3. Treatment recap and Q&A: Every step of the treatment will be explained. Any issues will be discussed.
  4. Sedation: Your choice of sedation will keep you calm, relaxed and pain free.
  5. Teeth removal: Teeth are quickly and painlessly removed.
  6. Exposing the jawbone: Incisions are made through your gum to expose the bone.
  7. Fitting dental implant screws: Pilot holes are drilled and your implant screws fit.
  8. Adding abutments: An abutment is added. This extends up and out of the gum
  9. Stitching the gum: Your gum is stitched and allowed to heal.
  10. Your temporary bridge: Using your scans a temporary bridge is 3D printed on site and attached to the abutments.
  11. Recovery: Bring a friend or family member to take you home where you start to recover.

How much is a full set of dental implants in the UK?

Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea offer several types of dental implant treatments so there is almost always one to suit your budget:

  • Cheapest: Snap-in implant retained dentures combine the security of implants fused to the jawbone with the convenience of a removable acrylic denture.
  • Budget friendly: PPMA implants combine a hand painted acrylic bridge supported by a titanium bar to provide extra stability.
  • Most popular: Zirconia bridges used a hand painted ceramic coated metal to create a long lasting and highly durable replacement for lost and damaged teeth.
  • Premium: Add individually placed crowns to a zirconia bridge and you have a smile that is indistinguishable from a perfect set of teeth.

All options are secured using grade 5 titanium implant screws and abutments that help to prevent rejection giving you a lifetime of smiles.

Contact Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea to discuss spreading the cost of treatment with affordable finance options.

What is a full mouth dental implants healing time?

Healing times can vary from individual to individual but typically takes between 3 and 4 months. Healing can be improved if you have stopped smoking and practice good oral healthcare as directed by your dentist.

The good news is that in the first 2 weeks the stitches in your gum will be removed and the gum fully healed.

Are there any full mouth dental implants side effects?

The main side effects are an increase in confidence, being able to smile, laugh, speak, sing, smile, bite and chew once again. Lips and cheeks appear fuller and more youthful.

Initially any side effects will be caused by the sedation used during your treatment. this can include lack of focus, disorientation and drowsiness amongst others. Discuss any concerns around sedation with the dentist before the procedure has started and make sure you are accompanied to your teeth in a day appointment by a friend or family member capable of driving you home.

Pain peaks around the second day after surgery as this is when swelling and bruising has fully developed. Treat this pain with over the counter painkillers.

If you experience bleeding bite gently onto clean damp medical gause.

Smoking and a lack of dental hygiene can cause periodontitis which can cause gums to recede exposing the bone under your implants. If you experience this contact your dentist.

FAQ

How can I get the cheapest full mouth dental implants in the UK?

Firstly at Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea you will never pay a London premium - Our prices are the same throughout the UK meaning you always get the best value.

Getting the cheapest possible price for full mouth dental implants relies on three elements. 1, The health of your gums and jawbone and 2, the number of implants and 3, choice of bridge.

Gum and bone health

To avoid any remedial works and the time and costs required to make your gums healthy you should have no sign of gum disease or gingivitis. Jawbone should be healthy with no bone loss.

Types and number of implants

A basic full mouth dental implants procedure uses 4 implants on each jaw to secure 2 bridges. If you have bone loss more or different implants can be used to circumvent problem areas.

Choice of implant retained bridges

  • Acrylic implant retained dentures are the cheapest treatment secured by a minimum of 2 implants.
  • PPMA bridges combine an affordable acrylic bridge with a durable titanium bar giving you a long lasting smile
  • Our most popular zirconia bridges provide high durability and aesthetics
  • Premium zirconia bridges with individually positioned crowns represent our most expensive but lifelike result.

Full arch implant complexity

The standard procedure around having full mouth dental implants is well practiced and offers no additional complexity.

Complexity occurs only if bone loss is present, requiring bone grafts, a sinus lift, the use of pterygoid or zygomatic implants.

Post surgery complexity is largely down to how the patient cares for their new teeth and gums. A well maintained bridge and healthy gums can last well in excess of 20 years. Poor oral hygiene and lack of check-ups can lead to gum loss, periodontitis and implant failure.

Are full arch porcelain dental implants available?

Yes, however this does not mean having implants for every individual tooth. Instead porcelain dental implants are seated within a zirconia bridge supported on a minimum of 4 dental implant posts.

How much do full mouth dental implants cost per tooth?

A single implant costs from £2800 however this does not mean that to have full mouth implants requires multiplying this figure by 12, 12 or 14 teeth. Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea offers several options from budget PPMA bridges to premium zirconia bridges with individually positioned crowns.

What is the price of full mouth dental implants in Turkey?

Visiting Turkey for cheap full mouth dental implants comes with some significant risks. A BBC documentary titled Turkey Teeth, Bargain Smiles, or Big Mistake? surveyed over a hundred dentists in Turkey and found some startling results.

  • Over 50% of dentists recommended treatments where none were required.
  • Case studies reported booking one type of treatment and coming out with something completely different
  • UK dentists are unlikely to offer help if your implants fail or bridge becomes damaged

This all adds up making your cheap treatment suddenly becoming very costly.

If you are considering full mouth dental implants in Turkey contact Yorkshire Dental Suite Chelsea. We can provide advice and expertise, helping you to find a finance package that helps make treatment more affordable.

How much do full mouth dental implants cost on the NHS?

Dental implants are a Band 3 treatment costing £319.10 but are not available to everyone. To be eligible you must have a medical condition or accident that has damaged your teeth. For a majority of patients private dental care is the only option.
