General Dentistry Services at Yorkshire Dental Suite Wakefield

Each of our dental clinics provide a comprehensive range of general dentistry services, with an emphasis on assessing your needs and putting you at ease.

Restorative procedures

General dentists restore you to full oral health using a variety of cutting-edge dental services. After a friendly consultation, the dentist will discuss a care plan with you.

One of the most common types of dental treatment carried out by any general dentist is a filling. These are used to treat cavities when they form. The procedure involves your dentist removing the decayed portion of your tooth and then filling the gap to prevent further decay. We use the very best white fillings to blend in with the rest of your smile.

Root Canals

When the tooth’s nerve is compromised due to a crack or cavity letting infection into your tooth, you may need a root canal. In this procedure, the soft tissue inside your tooth will be completely removed, eliminating the infection and preventing further damage or decay. Our expert dentists will make the procedure as pain and stress-free as possible.

Dental Crowns

If you have missing teeth, they can leave gaps in your smile. Not only that, but they can also put you at a greater risk of developing decay. Having dental crowns placed will help restore function to your bite and improve your confidence. At YDS, we specialise in precision crowns and we offer finance options if you want to pay over a longer period.

If you’ve got multiple gaps in your teeth, bridges can help restore your smile, confidence and ability to eat whatever you want. A dental bridge can hold between one and four teeth and will be expertly fitted at our dental clinic in Wakefield. We’re the only clinic in the UK to offer the cutting-edge SmileSmart™ bridge for increased strength and longevity.

Dental Implants

Losing a tooth can be quite traumatic, but dental implants can help you get past this. Your general dentist will recommend getting implants placed as the best course of action in this instance. We offer teeth in a day implants so you can leave the same day with strong, natural-looking teeth.

For a full mouth makeover, you may need dentures or same-day implants. These are used when you have multiple teeth needing replacement. YDS is a centre of excellence for implantology, offering the latest procedures and sedation to put you at ease.

Tooth Extractions

If your tooth has become infected or has decayed past the point where it can be saved, you may need to have it extracted. Your dentist will do this to keep the neighbouring teeth healthy. Our dentists will do this in a pain-free procedure, with anaesthesia available.

Wisdom Teeth

When your third molars start to emerge in your late teens or early twenties, it can cause considerable pain. This is particularly an issue if your molar becomes impacted. It may be necessary to have a dentist do a wisdom tooth removal, which can ease the crowding in your mouth and provide huge relief.

Laser Procedures

Lasers can be used in a range of circumstances. They can be used to shape gums, remove inflamed gum tissue, or smooth any rough areas on your tooth. Your dentist will talk you through the pain-free treatment options available.

Straightening your teeth will help prevent cavities from forming and improve your bite and confidence. We offer Invisalign & Clear Aligners at clinic in Wakefield to bring your smile back into line. Many general dentists recommend this as the best way to realign your mouth and bring back the smile you want.

Preventative Treatments

We believe in catching issues before they worsen. For that reason, we put a lot of faith in preventative dentistry. A regular checkup with our team and visits to the hygienist will help limit the chances of decay or disease.

General Dentistry FAQ

We’ve aimed to answer your most common questions about our general dentistry services. If we’ve missed any, feel free to get in touch with us - we’d love to help.

I haven’t been to a dentist for a long time. What’s the next step?

By coming here, you’ve already made the first step towards a healthier mouth. A lot of our new clients haven’t visited the dentist for a while. Book a new client consultation online with one of our dentists or send us an enquiry and let us get in touch with you. We will see you for a full examination, take x-rays if necessary and put together a plan of action to address any issues that need addressing. We’ll then discuss with you our membership plans to make sure your mouth stays in shape for life. Our modern clinic isn’t like any dentist you’ve visited before – you feeling relaxed is important to us.

How long does a new client consultation last?

Our new client consultations last between 30-40 minutes. The dentist will talk to you about your dental history, make a full examination and take x-rays to help detect any problems.

Based on your consultation the dentist will put together a bespoke treatment plan for you that may include both general dental treatment and also cosmetic treatments. They’ll also answer any questions you may have.

Do You Offer NHS Dentistry

We’re a fully cosmetic, independent practice and pride ourselves on providing our clients with an exceptional level of care. Whilst we don’t offer NHS dentistry we do have affordable membership plans that start from just £29.99 per month. This membership plan will cover you for check-ups and cleans.

Our initial consultation fee is also just £60 which is highly competitive with NHS initial check-ups, with the difference being we don’t have long waiting lists and are always open to new patients.

What ages will general dentists treat?

We’ll treat all ages. Your dental health is important at every stage of your life. Whether we’re talking about a child’s baby teeth or having implants to restore your smile, we believe in treating everyone with equal importance and our elite team have experience with all ages of patients.

What are the consequences of not having my teeth regularly cleaned?

Letting your oral health slide by not brushing daily could lead to a build-up of plaque and tartar. Eventually, you’ll develop decay or gum disease. This could cause cavities, sensitivity, or even damage to your nerves, causing the need for root canal treatment or an extraction.

Brush twice daily for two minutes each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. Your general dentist here at Yorkshire Dental Suite can give you some great oral care tips.

How is a general dentist different from a specialist?

A dental specialist will generally focus on a specific type of dentistry. For instance, some dental professionals are experts in placing dental implants, while some will carry out procedures such as extractions, or delivering cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening.

Your general dentist will carry out regular check-ups and ensure you’re in the best oral health. They’ll do fillings and help you with bridges and root canals. At YDS, we’re proud to have both general and specialist dentists in our team.

Is it difficult to maintain good oral health?

Not at all. We recommend that you brush and floss twice daily. You should also avoid eating or drinking too many sugar-laden products and pay a visit to your dentist on a regular basis to spot the signs of dental problems before they emerge.
