Why do you need to get your teeth cleaned by our hygienist?
In areas that are difficult to brush – after time plaque accumulates and hardens into calculus which is too hard for us to remove by brushing alone. Luckily our hygienist has the right tools to carefully and meticulously remove the buildup of calculus around your teeth and prevent more from accumulating. Afterwards they will also show you how to use special instruments to ensure calculus doesn’t build up again and your mouth stays clean.
Do your gums bleed when you brush?
Looking after your gums is just as important as looking after your teeth. If your gums bleed when you brush them or are red and swollen then this is a sign of gum disease, also known as gingivitis.
If gingivitis is left untreated the gums can become infected. This is periodontitis, a serious condition which could result in the loss of a tooth. The entire area surrounding the tooth is affected so it is vital to keep your mouth healthy and attend regular hygiene appointments or dental check-ups.
It is normal for our teeth to become discoloured over time by drinking things like tea, coffee and red wine. Our state of the art practice in Leeds is equipped with an Airflow ™ system that allows us to use a high pressure stream of air to remove any stains and Discolouration from the tooth surface.
