Blast Away Stains

The air polishing technique can be traced back to 1945 when Dr. Robert Black developed the first documented method. As with many brand-new inventions it had its issues and over the years the idea was built upon, improved and eventually developed into the stain removal treatment we provide to patients today. This means we can help you get a whiter, brighter smile.
As far as we can tell, the first records detailing any marketing of this system date back to the 1970’s. It was around this time that the technology became popular with Dentists and Dental Hygienists. The world of dentistry quickly realised that the treatment allowed us to provide patients with a gentle yet effective way to remove those unwanted stains from the teeth. It was also everything our patients had been longing for!

The procedure uses a fine spray of compressed air, water and a fine powder and works on removing stains caused by a variety of things such as red wine, smoking, tea and coffee. It is totally pain free and some patients even report it being a very relaxing treatment – we have even had a few patients who have fallen asleep!

The other great news is that this method is far more effective than a traditional polish and can remove up to 100% of dental plaque helping prevent decay, gingivitis and gum disease and for those of you with Dental implants it is completely safe too.
